Chiaroscuro

head in the clouds head in
the sand head in the water
hand-in-hand
with heart &
head watermelon snoozers in my
bed
in my head
my sweater
unraveling before the
fall all in
all since
you
forgot it’s never too late it’s
never too late it’s
never too late
for the times we spent in
cages of ice broken
into motes
of dust our blood coursing
with dirt & rust stained &
chained by rain
& cloud
head in the sky head
in the sand head
underwater
& all the sins you
forgot reflected in our mineral eyes
it’s never never never too
late to play dancing in
the cerulean light too bright to
see but squint &
smile watermelon curling ’round my head
hand-in-hand with moss &
stone beet & blood
spilt on the
floor reflected in your
lava & ice it’s
never too late it’s never
too late a frozen heart
a frozen soul
a foul sprinkling changing
playing head in
the sea
head on the
beach doused in bleach &
blueberry light too
bright to burn & sparkle clean
beaten bloody still
on the
floor teeth like diamonds chewing
petals reflecting & then crystallized
sketched & inked & drawn
& quartered everybody
falling to pieces stop
& think stop & think
head in the stars
head in the
sand head underground
it’s never never never too late
to play breaking
the chains of pain &
dryness watermelon
grooves inside my feet
drowning in the winegum light dancing
in the neon light dreaming
in the godstained light
it’s never too late it’s never
too late

…it’s never too late
it’s never too late…
