Prosper Poorly

children & chaos
fill up my dreams
like a fleet of rusted bicycles
in a submersible city
striped with green
& chased by the loneliness of insomnia

to howl in the winds of another wet summer
under turbulent clouds
pushing my heart into the mud
& the storms
oh, the storms!
my only reprieve from
the pungent sadness of humidity

don’t stop the rain
don’t stop the rain

you illuminate the broken-tooth skyline
of my midnight metropolis
insinuated with my sleep &
never to forget the children & chaos
riding the rails to
fill up my dreams
with tempests of inspiration

don’t stop the rain
don’t stop the rain

never stop the rain
