Follow Me

do you want to go along with me?
wet me down & make me clay
it’s better than it was today
all planetary & lost for the woods

before we leave this burrow
we can brace ourselves with lost nights
kissed by glittering candlelight
when we shift & turn to sand

your head a mug of seasonal spice
wind cut crossward into grey
it’s better than it was today
tighter breaths & a cloud of song

i’m writing a book about this
the roots of roses pushing through clay
when we shift & turn to sand
do you want to go along with me?
