Excuse Me, Have We Met?, Part 2

There’s now more to the story from the other day when I ran into my apartment complex’s maintenance man outside my building.

He knocked on my door yesterday morning to fix the light in my bedroom. It turns out he didn’t really know me before seeing me in the parking lot, he just knew which apartment I lived in because…well, it’s his job. But he had to ask me my name because he didn’t know it, he just recognized me from seeing me take walks around the complex, and only paid any attention because of my red shoes.

Him: “I’ve seen you and thought, ‘Oh, there goes Red Shoes Guy.'”

Me: “I’m okay with that nickname.”

It also seemed that he hadn’t been in my apartment before and hadn’t encountered Oberon, he’s just familiar with tenants having pets. But he did say some things you really want to hear from a maintenance worker during a pandemic:

“I’m an introvert, so being told I have to stay home and not be around people is perfect for me.”

…and…

“I’m a total germaphobe. I didn’t have to stock up on hand sanitizer when this hit because I already have so much. I keep an extra bottle in my truck.”

So, not that strange after all.

Yes, I’m very happy it all turned out to be harmless. 🙂
