Points of Light

I’ve been slogging through a bad patch of depression for the past 4-5 months. I keep thinking I’m getting out of it, and then some little thing sets me off and I go tumbling back down into it. It’s frustrating and not that much fun.

Artax!

But instead of dwelling on it right now, I want to mention the things that are making me smile, the things that are brightening my world and giving me inspiration.

  • Rewatching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, my favorite of the Trek series.
  • Rewatching classic Doctor Who, my favorite TV show of all time.
  • Reading The Mabinogion.
  • Reading The Arabian Nights.
  • Listening to the audiobooks of the Chronicles of Prydain and Harry Potter. Both have amazing readers who do great voices. And the series are both classics of youth literature (but good for any age, of course).

There are also many, many people in my life who make my days brighter, but it would take to long to name you all (and I’d be afraid of leaving someone out). You know who you are. Thank you.

I’m glad that you’re finding solace in stories.

Do you think you’ll be rewatching the Harry Potter movies at some point, or do you only reread the books? šŸ™‚

I’ll probably rewatch the movies, too, although I think I’m going to do a Lord of the Rings rewatch first. Those movies also bring me joy and it’s been too long since I last watched them. šŸ™‚
